BWH Hotels has acquired seven independent hotels amid ambitions to reach 20,000 rooms across the UK by 2029.

The move forms part of plans to add 100 hotels to its 230-strong UK portfolio under brands including Best Western and WorldHotels over the next five years.

The recent acquisitions feature the 100-room Best Western Sheffield City hotel and the 37-bedroom Best Western Ebbw Vale hotel, which also has an on-site restaurant and bar.

Meanwhile, BWH Hotels has expanded its luxury offering with the addition of the 32-bedroom Forty Seven hotel in Manchester, home to Asha’s Restaurant and Peterman Cocktail Bar, as well as the 36-room Velvet Hotel Bar and Brasserie, to its WorldHotels Crafted collection.

These are in addition to the Kings Arms hotel in Christchurch, which joins the WorldHotels Distinctive collection, as well as the 41-bedroom Lakeland Kendal hotel in Cumbria and the Casa hotel in Yateley, Hampshire, which have both consolidated the Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western.

Robert Alley, brand development director of BWH Hotels GB, said: “Securing seven quality, well-located hotels shows the strength of the hands-on, proactive support we offer at BWH Hotels.

“We know just how tough the market is for hoteliers right now and in times like these, hotels need more than a brand, they need a partner who can help turn pressure into progress. That’s exactly what we’re here to do for these brilliant new additions.”

BWH Hotels operates in more than 100 countries with 4,200 hotels in its portfolio. Each hotel is individually owned, making BWH Hotels one of the largest groups of independent hotels.
