Authenticity, Local Insight and Guest Experience Take Centre Stage at the 2026 BWH Hotels AMC Awards

In Feb 2026, more than 200 BWH hotel owners, operators and industry leaders travelled to The Belfry Hotel & Resort for this year’s BWH Hotels GB Annual Members Conference, where conversation focused firmly on the future of the sector. The message was clear: authenticity, local knowledge and meaningful guest experiences—not room rates—will define hotel success in 2026 and beyond.

One of the strongest themes emerging from this year’s conference was a strategic shift away from price‑led competition. Instead, delegates explored how hyper‑local experiences, deep community connections and quality‑driven service can offer independent hotels a powerful edge in a challenging market.

Speakers—including renowned customer service specialist Geoff Ramm, UKHospitality’s Allen Simpson and Visit Britain CEO Patricia Yates, and world class speaker Jamil Qureshi reinforced that today’s travellers are seeking the human touch: real stories, regional flavour and memorable interactions that cannot be mass‑produced.

Tim Rumney, CEO of BWH Hotels GB, captured the mood in his keynote address:

“Our journey forward as independent hoteliers is defined by three pillars: brand contribution, scale, and—most critically—quality. By focusing on excellence and the unique value of the guest experience rather than just the price of a room, we are building a more resilient and successful network for the future.”

AMC also saw the continuing story of GEMS (Great Escapes, Memorable Stays) and new bespoke AI-driven tools designed to support hotels in becoming true neighbourhood insiders—connecting guests with local guides, culinary artisans, hidden stories and distinctive experiences unique to each destination.

The conference culminated in a Gala Dinner with an awards ceremony honouring the hotels and teams who have delivered standout performance over the past year. From 50 years long service to IQA recognition, a huge congratulations to all of our award winners & nominees.

As the event drew to a close, one thing was clear: the future of independent hospitality is brighter together—and built on authenticity, innovation and dedication to the guest.

Here’s to another year of raising the bar, strengthening partnerships and delivering unforgettable experiences across Great Britain.
